Major success for Volvo Penta IPS pioneer

Rodman was one of the first boat builders in the world to adopt Volvo Penta’s IPS system. As early as in January, 2005, the company launched its 41-foot flybridge yacht with IPS. This pioneering spirit has paid off. Sales have grown considerably and today, the company has five models with IPS and has delivered more than 150 boats with the system to customers.

Rodman has enjoyed major success in recent years. Since the introduction of the Rodman 41 IPS, the company’s turnover has increased significantly. Rodman is the largest Spanish shipbuilding group and boasts the country’s largest industrial plant, with an area of 105,000 square metres, located in Vigo. A new and recently opened plant in Valença do Minho (northern Portugal), has substantially increased Rodman’s current production capacity of around 400 units per year.
“The Rodman 41 IPS has been one of the most important successes of Rodman Polyships. In less than 3 years we have beat one of our records, having produced the 100th unit, which makes it the most successful model of our entire yacht range”, says Andrés Cárdenas, CEO of Rodman.

IPS goes fishing
Along with the 41-foot yacht, Rodman also offers its 38-foot flybridge with IPS and has now also introduced the system for its renewed brand Rodman “Fisher & Cruiser Series” within the sport-fishing segment. The 1170 and the 1250 with IPS have only been on the market less than a year and already some 30 boats have been delivered.

Like the flybridge cruisers, these sport fishing boats benefit greatly from improved manoeuvring and larger cruising range. Another major benefit for sport fishers is the fact that there are virtually no fumes thanks to low emission engines and the exhaust fumes released through the pods and in to the propwash. A great comfort enhancer for anyone spending a day at sea fishing!
